About Us/FAQ

Who is Yggdrasil Materias?

We're a small family owned company whose goal is to bring back a Traditional TCG playmat. Found by casual players who took appreciation of the mats they collected over the years and played on, whether if it was high end or low end card rarities and value. Although we respect official and non-official rubber mats, cloth mats can prolong the life of sleeves while having a great look and nostalgic feel. Sleeves are no longer inexpensive, so the constant replacement of sleeves can be reduced in a pinch.

What fabric is used for your mats?

Although we cannot share all the details about our fabrics used, we carry textured fabrics with felt designs. They have a classic soft feel. We do not use ordinary local fabric. We spent time modifying samples with our overseas supplier to print on a raw material that feels great. We have fabric staged for future playmats that you may just recognize.

What makes your mats different from other mat companies?

Like very few, we use original art with a traditional print. We're a small company, so quality control will be for the player, by a player. All in-house, in the USA.

How many mats are produced?

Our project archive will have our production numbers, coming soon.

Yes! And we're keeping it flat rate.

UPDATE APRIL 2025: INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING IS NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

How do I care for my mat?

We recommend hand washing in lukewarm water with baby detergent and massage. This is better than spot cleaning for our playmats. Washing with hot water or abrasive clothing like denim may lift the ink or damage the fabric. This is for Standard playmats ONLY. Some playmats are not machine washable. Please check with us if needed. Leftovers and Protos do not have sealed edges and are prone to fraying if washed too harsh. Feel free to email us with any questions.

What is your print style?

Our main prints use a oil-based ink with additives. We think being able to feel the fabric and ink provides a traditional feel. Some will be high quality sublimated (also in house/made in usa by ourselves). Ink feel varies on fabric and print type. If there is any question on how a mat is made. Please contact us.
